The IOF Research Grants Program, established by the International Orthodontic Foundation (IOF), is a flagship initiative designed to support innovative, evidence-based research that bridges the gap between scientific discoveries and their clinical applications in orthodontics. The program provides financial support, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and encourages the development of solutions to address key challenges in orthodontics and related healthcare fields.

Since its inception, the program has garnered global participation, with over 200 applications from 30 countries and regions in its first three years. The IOF Science Committee, composed of leading experts in orthodontics and related fields, has awarded 49 grants, resulting in the publication of 26 peer-reviewed papers. These contributions have spanned a wide range of orthodontic disciplines, underscoring the program’s broad impact.

In addition to financial support, the IOF provides guidance, mentorship, and expertise to researchers, ensuring that projects meet the highest standards of scientific rigor and translational potential. By leveraging its global network, the IOF connects innovators with professionals, institutions, and collaborators worldwide, facilitating the exchange of resources and ideas to advance research. This network accelerates project development, expands orthodontic education and enhances patient care.

The program ensures that transformative research moves beyond the lab into clinical practice, making orthodontic care more accessible and effective. Through this initiative, the IOF continues to support the next generation of researchers and foster international collaboration to advance orthodontic science and patient care.
